7 things to do LESS of in 2013

Here's a list of things I want to do less of in 2013. I suppose these are sort of like backwards resolutions, since most people want to do more good things. Here we go...

7. Be less sarcastic. Yeah right, but it's worth a shot.

6. Spend less money and upscale things I already have. I like to shop, mostly for stuff for my son.

5. Lose my patience less. This is hard with a toddler, and I don't lose my patience often, but if I could never lose it that would be nice.

4. Spend less time making decisions. I need to delegate more instead.

3. Shop less at Walmart. I want to support small businesses instead.

2. Spend less time thinking about things to do and instead, actually doing them. I have lots of ideas but I need to work on them.

1. Waste less time on Facebook. I'm sure most people can relate.

Wish me luck!

10 Realistic and Do-able Resolutions

Hello and Happy New Year, list lovers! May your 2013 be happy, healthy, and prosperous. Set yourself on the right path by choosing one of these realistic and do-able resolutions:

1) Exercise once a week more than you usually do.

2) Set (and try to stick to) a weekly/monthy budget.

3) Eat an apple (or banana or carrot) a day.

4) Get more sleep. (Go to bed 15 minutes earlier than you did in 2012 and you’ll acquire an extra 91 hours and 15 minutes of sleep in 2013!)

5) Say “should” and “shouldn’t” less. Try, “It would be better if…”

6) Smile at strangers more often.

7) Volunteer your time.

8) Pledge to do something that will help the environment. Organize a neighborhood clean up, or simply use less paper towels than you normally would.

9) Learn one new thing. This can be done daily, weekly, monthly…even learning one new thing a year is better than learning nothing at all!

10) Try.

6 Ways to Recover from the Winter Holidays

The budget is tight because you shopped day and night. Your credit card is yawning and the snow is falling. You're out of holiday joy. The wrapping paper is done. Let's make a list to get back into fun.

6. Start planning your next event. Nothing gets me out of a slump like getting excited about an upcoming party or vacation.

5. Go to the library for fun. Get lost in a fictional world and forget about running out of holiday cheer.

4. Play with your new toys! Did you get a new high tech gadget, or maybe a video game or two? Don't let them sit in the box under the tree.

3. Go sledding! If you have enough snow, hit the slopes at a nearby park for free. If you don't have snow, check out a local ice rink for public skating hours for usually no more than a few dollars.

2. Get back to work or a hobby. Holidays derail the normal routine, so get right back into it! I love my job so this may not apply to everyone. Get back into your hobbies if your job stinks.

1. Spend your gift cards or cash! This is my favorite after holidays activity. Most retailers have fantastic sales and I've got free money to spend so why the heck not.
